2013 - A Great Summer!

It's been way too long since our last site update.  But things have been CRAZY this summer! Between all the gigs, the radio show, and preparing to launch a totally redesigned version of this site, Heather and I have definitely had our hands full the last couple of months! 

Under 21 parties

My good friend Shawn "SIC" Collins (One 603 Entertainment) has been killing it all summer long with his "Giant Under 21" summer series at Club ManchVegas in Manchester, NH every Sunday. I got the call to spin three of these events. Capacity crowd every single time! Here are some pics of the parties (courtesy of Jonathan Gregg Photography):

Radio Show

Thing have also been good for the "Overdrive" mix show on 105.5JYY! We've been expanded from one night to two, and are now on every Friday and Saturday night at midnight. I've also enlisted the services of my man Danny Dee to help out with hosting the show every week. This has been going better than expected - Danny really helps to get the word out on entertainment news and events happening in the 603!

Social 24 & Other Residencies

Speaking of Danny Dee (since he's also head of promotions at Social 24 Nightclub in Manchester), Tuesday nights  at Social 24 have been crazy all summer! I've been putting it down with my man DJ Gera every Tuesday, and the crowd always has a great time! The team at Social has been great about welcoming me into the fold, and I appreciate it!

New Mix CD

New Site 

We're also hard at work on my new website, DJIcemanStreetz.com! It's going to have just as much content as this site, but will have more images, and pics. We're working hard to bring you all the same content, but in a totally rebuilt format! Stay tuned for announcements and progress reports!

I've also been back in the studio a lot more this summer, working on remixes and studio edits. I've got some new stuff by Chris Brown, David Guetta, Nayer, Pitbull, and more finished up recently. You can check these out on the "Remixes" page, they're ready for streaming now!

"White Girls in The Club" - Racist, or Just Funny?

Here's a track by Trina called "White Girl". Its not really a new track, but it's one that I forgot I had in my collection. It features Flo Rida and GitFresh. The track is basically Trina saying that she wants to get loose in the club, and "party like a white girl". It's got tight production, basically a real good party track. Check it out:



Anyway, I played this one at the club this weekend, and I got an interesting reaction. Pretty much everybody seemed to like it, and danced to it. There was one girl who my wife over-heard calling the record "racist". I guess I can let everybody judge that for themselves. In my experience, a lot of the white girls in the club just seem to party harder than everyone else. A lot of them tend to be more unrestrained, less self-conscious, and just party harder in general. That's not a bad thing, and I do get what Trina was trying to say.

The interesting thing is that the same girl in the club who thought the Trina track was racist was then dancing to the Tyga/Little Wayne track "Faded". She loved that track (and so do I honestly) - but to me, those lyrics are totally misogynistic (or at the very least degrading):



Ironic, huh? I guess the bottom line is that things have gotten just a little too "PC". In my opinion, life is short. We all need to loosen up, and have some fun! If we continue to get so easily offended, it won't be long before we're playing "edited" versions of every song. In adult nightclubs. I don't know about you, but that just doesn't sound right to me.

What do you think? Is the Trina song racist, or just funny?

Giveaways, & More Giveaways!

The Shoe-Girl.com Launch Party (and birthday celebration) this weekend was awesome!  It went down at The Funky Monkey Nightclub in Laconia, NH on Saturday March 24th.  We had a lot of giveaways, and a lot of happy winners.  You can check out more pics of the event on my Facebook page!
